Family walking to the entrance of the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. We used to go there to have breakfast. I like the symmetry of this image. I wish the lighting was better. The sun is low and hitting the other side of the building, casting long shadows to the left. Mountains and buildings get in the way of the sun presenting challenges to picture taking. Even so I can still enjoy this image, mostly because I know the people and remember the time. But if I didn’t know that I might like the picture for the human interest, the lines of the roof and the flag flying high in the breeze. Makes me wonder how they get up there to raise and lower the flag? Makes me think about how much I love this great country; how much it means to me to be here with all of you.
