Took the Senator to have lunch at the Napa in Dublin with his book club crew yesterday. 380-mile round trip from his apartment at Traditions. All praise and glory we had perfect weather for the drive. He’d asked me a couple of months ago if I’d be willing to drive him out there and even though the thought of it gave me tremors, I agreed to do it. He’s one month away from his 97th birthday and seems fragile as thin ice but his determination and will power are a force of nature that saw him through the journey with no problems whatsoever. My lunch with the six fellas from the book club was enjoyable as could be as was the six-hour car ride with Senator where we talked about everything including trucks. Grateful.
