Shades of yesterday
This is gone now, but yesterday looked so right. I thought mountain range. Today, maybe not. That is how this job is. Make something every day. Some days stronger than others. Still, I like to look at this.
The sparkles
All that glitters is not gold, but there’s a lady who’s sure all that glitters is gold and she’s buying a stairway to heaven
I can relate
We’re driving northwest on US-52 on the north side of North Carolina when suddenly Mount Pilot comes into view smack dab in the middle of the road. I wake up my phone and take a blurry picture of the scene up ahead. It’s a throw away picture that I forget about until one day my… Continue reading I can relate
Don’t look at me
These guys attach themselves to us. Born outside, under the deck stairs in the dirt similar to the orcs, they can control the lives of humans. We know this and still we allow them inside the house to take over and rule us. This is why my eyes itch, and my nose is stuffy. Stop… Continue reading Don’t look at me
Arrival
I saw a film today, oh boy.
Fan of the forests
This walk through the trees is a fun addition to the St. Vrain Greenway Park in Longmont. The inspiration for it was birds flying among the trees. I didn’t get the feeling of flying, but I did enjoy walking along the elevated path through the woods. As we all know, Picturelongmont is a fan of… Continue reading Fan of the forests
Long life
This was dad’s 95th birthday. Mom had invited some of his friends over for some snack and drink. I drove out there like I used to do to spend a day helping celebrate his birthday. Mom died a year later, almost to the day of when I made this picture. Dad moved to Indianapolis last… Continue reading Long life

Twenty twenty four knocking on the door. I’ve been putting pictures on Picturelongmont for 23 years. In 2001 I was building a library of images of all the buildings up and down the main streets of Longmont. Google did better and soon after rolled out their street view maps. In 2004 I was taking pictures… Continue reading hny
A statement
This image leans in the category of abstract. I’m not sure but last I checked it seems people like to put labels on things. I don’t. I like this for a reflection image. It’s also a good example of highlights getting over cooked resulting in some melting around the edges. Lastly, it’s a statement crop.… Continue reading A statement
Sometimes nothing
Sometimes I want to make a picture of nothing. In this case a reflection of something. How about something shiny. They do this kind of thing all the time when like testing a new lens for sharpness. I was testing my patience.

Yellow house in snow. This was Longmont. I liked the looks of the yellow house and in particular how it looks on a snow day.
Condo in snow
Looks peaceful with the snow and early day sunlight painting shadows across everything. I like how the sun and shadows on the roof contrast with those on the ground.

This image from our first year at the condo. West wood branch flowing some water. I might have stood in it to make the reflection picture.

Mystery why tire tracks stop there. Life sure is full of mystery. It’s something every day.
Not again . .
If soft focus trees turn you off, then Picturelongmont might be a disappointment for you. I’m coming to terms with my fascination of forests as subjects here. I like the colors, the lines, the contrast of light and shadow. I like to put paint and distort filters on the images. This forest scene is from… Continue reading Not again . .
Music program
Big band show. This number features some band members at rest.
Be very careful
There are many cats watching you. They are patient. They sit and watch, learning your ways. You are not safe anywhere on or near the ground. I tell the bluebirds this warning every time I see them. I hope for the birds to be smarter than the cats.
Broken tree 2
Windstorm, windblast, tornado and several trees broke down that day. That was July. This image made the following October.

Same picture but different.
