Ancient history lessons

Nancy and I celebrated our anniversary, and it got me thinking about days past in a nostalgic way. As often the case when I’m reminiscing, I’ll look through my Shotwell Library for a dose of the past. This time I landed on my pictures of my Solaris classes from 2002. The path that led me to become Solaris Instructor for Workforce Boulder County was paved with among other things, lying about knowledge and skills that I did not possess, my neighbors from across the street, and September 11, 2001. That first class was pretty rough. A little better with the second group of students. By the end of the third year I had completed 12 sessions, training over 220 students in Solaris Systems Administration. I liked to arrive to the classroom early to mark up the board with the morning’s lesson content. By the time the 20 or so students arrived I was ready to engage in the lecture of the subject matter for the morning. Lab time followed lecture. Q and A with review followed lab. I made this series of pictures of my lecture boards for historical record. I get a kick out of looking at them now and thinking back about those days of learning about computers.
