We will live on

Downriver from New Orleans in Chalmette is the site of the January 8, 1815, Battle of New Orleans: Chalmette Battlefield. This tree mostly broken and missing, sprouts new branches from an old wound and says to me against a darkened sky “we will live on”.

The rain was unstoppable

The rain came pouring down. Used to be April showers bring May flowers. Now it’s February gushers and March slushers. Make the best of it.

Nesting mother goose

In those days the mayor of Longmont promoted a public art display featuring uniquely painted geese. The geese were located all across town, and I photographed them all. I gave all my images to the mayor, and they were used in various publications promoting the art exhibit. That was year 2002. Peak year for Picturelongmont… Continue reading Nesting mother goose

Spring is coming

This is a cluttered image of icicles growing from the roof of the condo as viewed from inside the window. I used my phone camera to make this picture. Placing the phone up against the window to stabilize it while trying to angle it so that it could catch the afternoon sun hitting the ice.… Continue reading Spring is coming

The goats

This morning reading about photographer Steve McCurry. What an amazing body of work he has created over the course of a long life and career. To be able to appreciate. To feel gratitude and express gratefulness. The art that I create is nothing in comparison to what the greats create. That’s ok. I appreciate the… Continue reading The goats

Last snow of the season

Big snow of February arrived yesterday. I like how snow clings to trees, highlighting one side providing contrast and a reminder of which direction the storm came from. I’m trying to educate myself about art, all art, but photography in particular. In reading about William Eggleston and looking at his books he claims to not… Continue reading Last snow of the season

Tangled up in blue

What I like about this image is the oddness about it. It is a ball of cones with glitter tassels all lit up on some kind of carousel stand. It rotated around so that each picture I took was a different view and I liked this one the best. I was shooting with my Fujifilm… Continue reading Tangled up in blue

Flowing east late afternoon

Westwood branch flowing east with late afternoon sun painting light on the ground around it. I like how the reflection at the far end draws my eye along the lines to the blue sky in the foreground. Opposite the normal way I think of ground to sky relationship. I like the warm glow of light… Continue reading Flowing east late afternoon

Come on down here

Get on down that road. But don’t worry about time or when whatever. Use your time. It’s really all there is. I know. Getting all philosophical here where we all know this is nothing but a photography blog. This dirt road in Boulder County was my daily. Get on down the road.
